Zumba is the latest fitness craze to hit the UK, having been established in over 17 Countries worldwide. It has been around for 10 years, and has recently had national press coverage due to its popularity.
In simple terms it is a World music dance fitness class, taking elements of different international dance cultures and presenting them in an easy to follow dance ‘party’! The music is infectious, and there are so many routines you are encouraged to do your own thing and just have a good time. A simple whole body warm up is followed by a series of routines (that will vary significantly between teachers), with an overall latin theme. You may try a salsa inspired routine, regaetton, cumbia, and even a little hip-hop or belly dance. Some of the routines are more gentle than others, and you can choose to take it easy or get carried away and have a major workout! The session finishes with a cool down and stretch.
At ClubDanceUK, you are lucky to have a wealth of experience in the teaching of Dawn-Marie who is an established Oriental Dancer, with experience in latin and Bollywood. She has trained other teachers in various parts of the world including Egypt, and has taught briefly in Cuba, Sri Lanka and Dominica.
Her infectious joy for World music has been shown over the years in all her classes, and you are guaranteed to have some original choreography and some very quirky pieces of music to work to!
Dawn-Marie has led the Malvern May Day and Christmas parades over the past few years in her enthusiasm to work with the local Samba Band.
Zumba classes are open to everyone of all abilities, with the only essential a sense of humour! Wear loose fitting but supportive workout clothes (bright colours tend to go down well as you imagine the warmth of the sun and the sand under your feet as you move…!). Supporting trainers or dance shoes are recommended and bring a bottle of water for you WILL sweat.
Sessions are held weekly on Monday and Thursday evenings at 6pm at the Newtown Club in Newtown Road Malvern. Thursday mornings at Rushwick Village Hall 10am, and a shorter 45 minute session on Friday at the Holy Trinity Hall, Link Top.
Indvidual 1 to 1 sessions can also be booked in your own home if required.
